Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sujani, Deoghar was established in the year 1985 which is situated 15 kms away from Deoghar district town and 7 kms away from Jasidih Railway Sation ;on Paglababa – Koridih Road.


Concept

The Krishi Vigyan Kendtra is a grass – root level institution designed and devoted to impart need based skill – oriented short and long –term vocational training courses to the farmers/farm women. The concepts of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, area as follows :

  1. The Kendra will impart learning through work experience and hence will be concerned with technical literacy, the acquisition of which does not necessarily require as a precondition, the ability to write.
  2. The Kendra will impart training to those extension workers who are already employed or to practicing farmers.
  3. There will be no uniform syllabus for a Kendra. The syllabus and programme of each Kendra will be tailored according to the felt needs, natural resources and potential for agricultural growth in the particular area.

Mandate

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra has been established by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research with the aim of reducing the time lag between the generation of technologies and their transfer to the farmers for increasing the productivity in agriculture and allied sectors. In order to achieve this aim Krishi Vigyan Kendra has following mandates :-

  • On – farm testing to identify the location specificity of agricultural technologies under various farming system.
  • Frontline demonstrations to establish its production potentials on the farmers’ fields.
  • Training of farmers and extension personnel to update their knowledge and skills in modern agricultural technologies.
  • Work as resource and knowledge centre of agricultural technologies for supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector for imnproving the agricultural economy of the district.
  • Produce and available technological products like seed planting material bio agents young ones of livestock etc. to the farmers.
  • Organize extension activities to create awareness about improved agricultural Technologies to facilitate fast diffusion and adoption of technologies in agriculture and allied sectors.

    Augmentation of milk production in dairy animals

    Description of Innovative Practice/Technology

    Mr.Umesh Kumar Satsangi and Mr. Sunil Kumar Satsangi took over the Dairy and in 2009 with the support of Dairy Development Department and technical support of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sujani they benefitted by getting 100 lactating hybrid cows from National Agriculture Development Schemes. They started to get 900-1000 ltrs of milk/day and started to sell their milk and milk products as ‘Satya’ products (on the name of their father). They have a milk processing plant. Where they separate SNF and Fat. They have a packaging system . They make paneer , Misti Dahi, Dahi, Ghee, Butter. They also have a unit where they prepare mithais,Rosogulla, Chhena etc. They also have a gobar gas plant that is used as fuel in the plant. Their cow dung is used in green fodder production that is being fed to the cows. They have irrigating land og 6 acres and non irrigation land og 1 acre. They grow Moringa, Maize Elephant grass as the green fodder. They are even preparing Pesticides from Cow urine by mixing it with the neem leaves and fermenting it.This is a well known brand in Deoghar in today’s date. They have total 100 lactating cows and around 50 pregnant cows in their Modi Dairy Farm.
